The day the earth crumble
I was there that day. The day the earth crumbled. I watched as it was bathed in flame, as all around me was burned into black fine ash. The seas boiled and turned to steam and rivers of blood filled the streets. And I was there. I watched as life that had stood for a thousand years came tumbling down in a thunderous crash. I was there. I heard the sharp report of the stone crack, as our sweet mother crumbled under the weight of her own children. I watched as her blood did rise up to drown those she had harbored safely for so many years. I was there. Yet through the smoke, the ash, the flame, I could see... beauty. In this destruction the flickering tongues of flame did cast light upon the world and gave it a a marvelous glow, a halo for our dying mother. The screams of agony echoed off the growing emptiness like a horn trumpeting the sound of her final victory. The smoke swirled danced and twirled above me in a gently ballet of doom. Yes, I was there the day the earth crumbled... ..and I cannot say that it was not good. |

If this little world tonight
Suddenly should fall through space In a hissing headlong flight Shrivelling from off its face In an instant every trace Of the little crawling things Ants, philosphers and lice Cattle, cockroaches and kings Beggars, millionares and mice Men and maggots all as one As it falls into the sun Who can say but at the same Instant from some planet far A child may watch us and exclaim "See the pretty shooting star!" ~unknown |
