Ideally I agree with this statement, but if an autographed urinal can fetch me even a grand, I will take a sledgehammer to the closest public washroom stall and will be financially secure in the next year for the rest of my life, seen?

Or is toiling away 5 days a week at some 9 to 5 joe job more fair.

This piece I may have under-estimated though. It's a great metaphor for the state that art is in in this state of the art society, *smerk*. Duchamp may very well be a genious, I'm just jealous that he thought of it first.

PS

It still sucks.

Uh no, I just read that bit (only natural landscapes blah blah blah) and couldn't disagree more. I do see what your saying by pushing the boundaries of what art is. I guess in that sense if I had a broader understanding of modern art I might understand why they chose this piece of "art." From where I'm suitting though you could still push boundaries and do something a little more creative than sign a urinal.

Mark if you want to be a starving artist than go ahead but I guarentee you that 99% of us 9-5 slaves will be more secure financially than any artist. It's funny I actually enjoy my job, does that still make me a slave??

When I was London they had this Public Toilet that was wall-to-wall one way mirrors. It was funny cuz you'd go in there to do your business and people would go right up to it to pick their teeth or fix their hair. Very unnerving for those with a shy bladder:
