But I wonder: Is sarcasm worthy of a punctuation mark of its own?

I always thought sarcasm was a weak attempt at humour by people who aren't really funny. And its popularity arose from 1990's sitcoms and lame stand-up comedy.

I say if it has other good uses then perhaps it's worthy - otherwise sarcasm should be left to those thirty somethings who think they're funny.

I think of the written sarcasm issue in the same way that ESL students don't get sarcasm. Basically if you don't speak the language well and or you don't know someone and their tendancies/general opinions you probably miss it when they say something in a sarcastic manner. Is this really that big of a deal?

Sarcasm is funny if it's subtle and/or bitter hehe. Some ppl just don't know how to do it.

I think a sarcasm point would be good for the slow online people. :)
