It also has to do with what kinds of sediment or rock the ground is made up of. Richmond is like, entirely sand underneath so the parts that dont flood will liquify and sink as the quake shakes the sand. Up around port moody/burnaby mountain is all solid rock, so thats why you no sinkee.
I fortunately am safe in the middle of vancouver proper. Living not in the suburbs pays off once again (as if it wasnt already painfully obvious!)
