Good News for Israel!
A new poll suggestes that 52% of the people are in favor of Abbas. An opinion like this, only weeks earlier would have been regarded as heresy. With the death of Arafat, people can finally say what they truely believe.
Peace is just around the corner! |

It is good news for Israel, deffinately. Palestine?...they may face problems in the Arab world for their decision, who knows? This peace idea has never gone over well with them. But yes, for 52% of Palestinians it is excellent news. I just hope that they do not start up in civil war or something. It is a very new subject. I am skeptical, I know, but it is within reason. If I had wrote "Good news for Palestine" many would have to argue that it is questionable. Last edited by lou_belle; Jan 06, 05 at 05:12 PM. |

hahaha, yeah - if you believe that, I have a bridge you might be interested in. Its going to be a long time before peace is 'around the corner'. But this is an encouraging development. Until Isreal stops their bloody occupation though, there will be no peace. |

you know.... I really REALLY hate to say it, but lou_bell's got a point here... the exptected winner of the next election has a capmaign that's based off of a path to peace, and the end of suicide bombing & miltary raids is good news for both sides. Arafat came to power on a platform of uprising and violence towards Isreal. I'm not saying that Isreal is in the right in that violence, or that Palestine is in the right, I'm just saying it's good news that so much of palestine is supporting a peace process and that the election looks like it will help towards peace and not further war.

I'm not implying in anyway that Arabs are "hate-filled" I'm just pointing out that an obvious point was made, and that's not reason to automatically denouce what was posted. I was ready to get in here and flame away, but really, this IS news of a possible peace in the one of the most war-torn placed on the planet, and THAT, if nothing else should be cause for celebration. By both sides. Wum, STFU, your post was useless and provided no counter argument to Grapes. You are still an asshat. We are all now stupider for having read that. I award you no points, and my God have mercy on your soul. Last edited by thebobman; Jan 09, 05 at 05:41 AM. |

Secondly, you're not a person to be appreciated. If you were a book, you shouldn't be put aside lightly, you should be thrown down with great force and then lit on fire. I don't support you, or your view of the world. |

you've got quite an imagination. criticism of multi-culturalism = devotee of Mein Kampf. Which by the way this thread has nothing to do with, but how can I argue with someone who instead of listening to his opponents plays out both sides of an imaginary argument in his own head? wow. PS. if lou_belle wants to continue with this thread it's up to her, but i imagine that anything to antagonize the poor 'oppressed' position of the Palestinian Terrorists will be met with more "Hilter!" bullshit. :) Last edited by wum; Jan 09, 05 at 06:09 AM. |

1. You're an ass. I don't really need to spell out why. 2. I'm merely backing up lou_bell's statement that 52% of Palestinians voting for peace is a good thing for Isreal. There's a lot of stuff lou_belle's said that I utterly don't agree with. 3. If your still doubting it: You're an ass. |

The thing is man, what you present here is the viewpoint that the Arab world has a deep, ingrained hatred of their Israeli neighbors. Only someone with a very biased viewpoint would attempt to argue this. When the person you're ostensibly defending presents her side of things, she comes off sounding like the Arab world's hatred is genetic and/or tantamount to their very being, and therefore impossible to mitigate, and that Israel is some bastion of tolerance and good deeds without just as much ingrained hatred and mistrust to cope with. Thank you for entering into this bizzare fray and providing some much needed level headed discourse. |

The best Idea I heard to make peace there was the UN taking over Isreal and making it a world country. Therefore everyone would have access to it making there no real reason to fight... hopefully. Last edited by Ree Fresh; Jan 09, 05 at 01:06 PM. |

You're trying to say the idea of 'peace' has never gone well with the majority of Palestinians? Oh, that's a good one. Out of curiousity, have you spend much time amongst Palestinians? Or do you figure that Hamas speaks for the majority? That's kind of like saying extreme right-wing xenophobic bible thumpers speak for all Christians, and all share similar desires. That's just silly. |
