drink lotsa water and get exercise
when i quit drinking coffee i started drinking tea instead. both high in caffeine but i find it easier to quit drinking tea then coffee. when you drink coffee it gives you a rush of blood to the brain, giving you that buzz, but when you stop drinking it the brain gets angry and gives you those freaking migraines that hurt like hell. either way, replace that caffeine blood rush with exercise. go for a run in the morning instead of drinking coffee, it'll lessen the headaches and give you the boost of energy. |

Yeah it's hard here too. Everyone's drinking coffee. School, work, on the streets. AUGH. It doesn't help that we have a Starbucks at every corner. If it isn't a Starbucks, it's a Blenz or another coffee shop.
I'm drinking less coffee though. Well, actually I don't drink much coffee, unless I'm at school. Now that classes are on, I can't survive some of my classes without having a soy mocha with me. MMMM. I think I'll have one right now. |

My addiction cycle lasts about 6 months: - drink a few cups a day - drink many cups a day - drink way too many cups a day, get disgusted and quit - drink tea for a couple months - back into the coffee again The coffee does give the "alertness edge" that is hard to resist. I wonder if you can get it from caffeine pills. Best compromise for me is the Costco "Java Club" Columbian beans ($9 for 2 pounds), grind 'em myself. Makes a nice mild brew. Use a permanent gold filter & you get more flavour than a paper filter. Last edited by tvmann; Jan 12, 05 at 04:17 PM. |

okay oaky, there ARE reasons, and good ones, so i still should... *shudders* maybe i'll just have 1 latte a week, on sunday... i think that would compromise nicely. |

you should quit all your bad habits while you're ahead, don't wait till it becomes a problem. smoking is disgusting and i don't need to go into what it does to your body cause you already know. you should really quit. |

I used to drink litres of coffee a day, being a webdeveloper and all. I quit cold turkey one day... I had to sleep that day off, and the next day. All you need is a few days just to veg out, drink lots of water and stay away from pop. Now i drink a coffee a day, not too bad.
I would have quit smoking first.. smoking.. ew... -Preet |
