Well I guess it all depend on certain factors. For instance: are you drunk? high? The size of the nail and the kind of gun...oh yeah...and the thickness of your skull.
Personally I think I would notice...and go straight to the Emer. Ward at the hospital and get painkilla's yo!

what if you got the nail stuck in the part of your brain that does pain.. and you broke the brain thingy so you couldn't feel pain anymore... like that guy in the james bond movie...

maybe then you wouldn't notice? well untill you saw the nail and/or blood

i can think of at least 4 ways you might not notice you ahd a nail in your brain.

ok, first you might not notice becuase the brain itself cannot feel pain. you'd feel it hit your skull, but if it went in clean all you'd know was that you got hit on the head, and if you didn't feel the hole in your scalp you might not know it's there, if it didn't hit a part of your brain that you'd miss right away....

secondly, it might hit that part of your brain that lets you think about such things/process short term memory, whatever....in other words, you might perceive it, but you might not be able to process it , therefore you don't consciously notice it.

thirdly you might not notice, because you are a vegatable.

fourthly, you might not notice it because you are now teh DEAD!

he actually shot himself through the mouth I think or somewhere under his chin (from the x-ray), somebody at my work thinks the gun had recoiled into his face or something when it happened as well so he just thought he had got hit by the gun and didn't notice the nail... I think the fact that he's alive is the crazy part, especially if you've seen the x-ray - 10cm long nail.
