Imagine a gun that fires a million rounds a minute
...enough to shred a target in a blink of an eye, or throw up a defensive wall against an incoming missile.
http://www.cnn.com/2003/BUSINESS/06/...ia.metalstorm/ http://www.metalstorm.com/ I want one! :) |

if you read the article it mentions that there actually are no moving pieces in the device except for the ammunition which gets fired.
i think its total breakthrough technology and i can see it being applied/modified for other uses in the future. |

• A 36 barrel prototype has fired a burst of 180 rounds at a rate exceeding one million rpm.

or not. yes it can fire bullets (or whatver projectile it was firing) at a fast rate, but int that video it only fired for what? .0001 of a second. it looked like one burst (36 shells) i still think that the weapon is incapable of firing for any length of time. physics works against things like that. the friction of the bullets firing in the weapon itself as they travel outwards would melt the metal.
