i don't know if it's deep vein or superficial.

i've had it for a little over a month now and i've been taking drugs to help it, but the doctor told me it won't go away. i never asked if i could fly though :(

the doctor actually told you the clot won't go away????

are you sure he didn't mean that the medication won't make it go away?

what were your doctor's orders?

well, over Time it'll go away, but it'll take a long Time. i'm on warfarin for about another six months and i go in for blood tests to check my INR every couple of weeks.

I'm guessing you have deep vein thrombosis..

and no, sorry you won't be able to fly. only rest, elevation and warm compresses for you!!!!!!!!

well, the only reason why I think it's a DVT is because you're on warfarin.. doctors USUALLY won't put you on anticoagulative therapy if you have superficial thrombophlebitis.. but hey, it's not like I've assessed you and I don't even know which vein is affected!

when I was in maternity, we had to assess patients for DVT's as part of our routine assessment... I found recently that the method we use to test for this is actually really unreliable. go figure! :P
