well i could be wrong about this, but from what i have heard the term "emo" does stand for emotional, but its more of a fashion/personality & trendy thing all together, like they type of person who listens to the sappy depresing music, who is depressed, does the whole "my life is so hard thing"
but i donno, like i said i could be wrong, i never really did get the emo thing either

emo=your driving in your car with your significant other, just after you get into a fight about your relationship/or a lovey convo about eachother you get into a car accedent. Your significant other is dead. Then you find out that the car you hit was your own family, and none of them survived. your little brother, your mom and your dad. Then you write a song, and that, is emo.

refers to a type of music (whiney emotional punk, usually), but is also a state of mind that some get into where the subject is ona constant rollercoaster fo emotions, completely subservient to thier surroundings.

I like Dashboard Confessional.

But yeah most emo songs I've heard are too whiney.

What's up with SUM 41 turning emo? Didn't they make fun of bands being emo when they were pretending to be The Sums in that music video?

hahaha Angel i love you! that's the perfect example. some of my old friends fit that site "how to dress emo 2.0" and it's funny cause i see them everyday and they still meet the "criteria". i have friends in all different social groups, the full spectrum: the "jocks", the "assholes" also known as (g-unit, gangsta, dog, dawg, homie/home-boy), the punkers, the nerds (i don't like that term), a few gothic people, and then you have the lovely ones which are my friends ... the ravers=) so full of life, TONS of energy, so many smiles, best beats, not all "straight edge". i've passed through all of those and made a choice to what fits my lifestyle=)

Interesting. I've always found that I'm happiest when I don't fit into any specific category and just be. I'll do whateve I want to do, and how I want to do it. This also counts for the way I look at people. Sure, there's the superficlal me that will look at someone and say "OOH a jock" or "ASIAN Comp Sci NERD" hehe, but this is all superficial. I guess I've grown to realize I dont like labels. I think we're all too complicated to fit one label.

true, labels are horrible. i personally hate being compared to anyone because there are so many differences and factors. free range is the way to be
