Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

or in simpler english:

What goes around comes around.

Is this what you were looking for? Or were you referencing something else?

The thing about karma on this site is,
if you really don't give a damn, then it's not going to affect anything.

That's why there's an option to turn it off :p

here it's just a cool feature
but in reality it's a part of the hindu religion.
i think it goes a little something like this....there are three castes in hindu society. high middle and the lowly ones. if a meember of the high caste helps someone in one of the lower castes that is considered bad karma and in their next life it would affect what caste they would be in. that whole what comes around goes around thingy came about back in the sixties when american hippies decided that north american society could use some culture from another place, i think. anyways karma isn't what we over here in the new world think it is.

I still don't get the idea of karma on this site...

As for karma in "spirituality", I don't think of it as a merit system or whatnot. I see it as the simple transmission of events in time through cause and effect. If you get shot in the brain you die. The bullet through the brain is the cause and death is the effect. Simple as that. I've been studying buddhism for between 2-3 years now and thats my take.

I think .....

the whole reason that "karma" became apart of F&K posting was because we were having (actually still have) alot of problems w/ unnecessary, distasteful, and plainly stupid post ... but we do also have many useful, meaningful , and informative posts .... so this was a way to show some posters that we appreciate their post and other's that we could do w/o their post .

But in the end it is something to keep f&k interesting

It's a stupid option.

The concept of it is to make everyone accountable for being negative or a "h8r" as some might call it. If you're excessively harsh on everyone, you'll get bad karma. But that's all you'll get. A red dot. Big fucking deal. A red dot is just a red dot. It can't pay your bills, fuck your mother, or run for president. It's just an useless red dot that means nothing if you want it to mean nothing. A red dot is a small price to pay for speaking your mind about something.

Ironically enough, the karma system has weakened the bonds that once made this site intimate and innocent. By allowing unnaccountable flaming through the usage of the comment option in the karma system, it gives people the chance to say cowardly things they would not even think about saying had they been required to sign their name to it. Or even worse, someone signs someone else's name to the comment, creating more controversy. Of course, this leads to mistrust and anger against fellow board members further weakening the community.

well put...

i like how u pointed out that the karma system is to account for people's negativity, being haters and such. cuz ironically, i think the karma system is the easiest and most cowardly (therefore the BEST) form of hating on a specific person.

i think it just gives us all 1 more way to punch someone in the face and get away with it.
