This is one of those holidays that no one seems to celebrate. You always hear of people getting drunk for birthdays, anniversaries, new years, hanukah, St Patricks day, etc.... But you never hear people say "Dude last Groundhog's day I got so loaded!" And I think this year we should change that. I'll be at Poncho's for buck'a'beer, and anyone who isn't there getting shit-faced is obviously racist against Groundhogs. FUCK ALL OF YOU GROUNDHOG HATING BASTARDS!!!! What did they ever do to you?

p.s. If you have drunken sex with a groundhog, it means 6 more weeks of winter and a fat beastiality law-suit.

That's a tough question! I'd say the third thursday of every month that begins with the letter "Q". Otherwise, it's always a good time to drink, unless you have to sell your soul to a bunch of midget curling enthusiasts. In that case, blame the Mexicaans, everyone else does.

The celebration of life stirring. It's at this point that every starts waking up and emerging from their caves in nature. As such, it's a point that people stop recovering from their New Year's celebrations and are very slowly getting into the swing of the idea of spring. Also why we seem to have Valentine's Day right on our heels ("When the little blue bird who has never said a word...."), and the real partying doesn't really get into the swing until March/April.

So it's a mellow holiday because we're still feeling the residual "groggy" of january, but we're starting to move a bit more. Some of the smaller animals are showing up (Groundhogs, most notably, hence "Groundhog day", but note that it's still not exceptionally at a massive rate, so hence the little is-it-actually-spring-yet superstition).

Start getting more colourful clothes. Today I put on my transformers T-shirt and shelved my Winter coat in favour of my tan leather jacket and walked to work so I could feed my internet addiction (I have the day off right now... and interweb is down at home).

Yeah. Not quite the time for partying for me yet. I still think I'm recovering from NY. The drinking can wait until Komrade's wedding, and the rest of the drugs even later. All I'm really concerned with right now is emerging from this island hole and riding this seasonal wave to see if I can get my ass back to Van.

As far as I'm concerned though, it's spring. Celts had it right.
