Heeeeey.... the US is still an Asshole

US opposes UK's debt relief plan Mark Tran Friday February 4, 2005 The US restated its opposition today to Gordon Brown's plan to set up a multi-billion dollar aid facility as finance ministers from the G7 countries gathered in London. Mr Brown is using the London meeting to drum up support for an international finance facility (IFF) that would double annual aid flows to $100bn (£53bn) by selling bonds on the world's capital markets. Britain has secured the backing of the three other European members of the G7 - Germany, France and Italy - but the US has declined to do the same. Prior to the two-day meeting of finance ministers, it bluntly restated its opposition to the idea. "Not only does the IFF not work for the United States, we don't need the IFF," John Taylor, the US treasury under-secretary, said as he travelled to the meeting, which was to be addressed by Nelson Mandela. ================ Honestly, I don't see how there's not open revolt in the US. The Administration is so ruthlessly corrupt that it borders on comedy. |

Yeah, but it's not like theyare going to come out and say that.
"Sorry, we wasted all out money blowin' shit up instead of putting those funds to good use, like world aid or even helping our own citizens, so we can't help ya." See, I just don't see that ever happening, so why not be all hyper-defencive about it. Buisness as usual for the US, I suppose. |

my point was that 4/7 G7 countries are in on this deal and the US, despite it's loud statement that it hold democracy in it's highest and will bring it to the world is clearly ignoring democracy for what it really WANTS to do, just like the UN and going against that democracy to go into Iraq.
