Do u want a traditional or non traditional wedding?
well?
do u want the bride in white, to be in a church, the whole she bang? or are you the kinda person that wants to get married on a beach wearing a bikini, and having someone strum a guitar the whole time?!? i dont want a super traditional wedding... i dont want to be wearing all white... i dont want a veil, i dont want there to be all girls as bridesmaids..who i want standing beside me is everyone in my life that has always been there for me, no matter the sex, there will be no maid of honour. both my parents will walk me down the isle. it will not be in a church ((unless the church is in europe) |

but knowing my family they would want everything to be huge and in a church for sure.. since im italian it would be like everyone and everyones friends! :S not such a great thing! lol |

I really don't know what I'm going to do.
I really don't want a big white wedding, yuck no. It will be different that's for sure. Then again, I'm sure my brother thought that way too and know he's getting married to a greek in a very big traditional greek wedding. |

it's a... nice day for a... white wedding!
that being said... if I ever get married, I'll pretty much just go with whatever my wife-to-be wants... I couldn't care less about the technical side of things, as long as I'm already connected for life to her in my heart |

hmmm it would be nice to have it on some tropical beach.. but in reality thats very hard to do if you want guests.. so mine will definately be in the summer...who knows where i'll be living at the time.. all i know is that i want a white dress.

i'll be able to answer this after my brothers big traditional wedding in july.
i never thought id want all the fancy shmancy stuff...but seeing all the preparations....i'll probably change my mind. i think all daddys little girls want a princess wedding. so we'll see we'll see :) but it won't be for a looooooooong time. im still too young to think about that! |

Great thread as I'm planning my wedding now! :) I need different ideas.
I don't want our wedding to be traditional but I know there will be traditional aspects. I will wear white & I will have bridesmaids. But, my Mom will give me away. The ceremony will be during sunset looking out towards the ocean and mountains - hopefully it's not raining that evening. *crosses fingers* I want it to be a fun day, not all drawn out and boring with everyone wanting to kill eachother because of all the stress. Give me cool ideas! :) |

^^^ cool ideas:
well im not sure when you're planning on having it...buuuuut if you want it outside overlooking the ocean...try to have it somewhere where its kinda under the trees...that way as the sun goes down you can have white christmas lights, or cool lanterns hanging from trees for a cool glow...another cool thing is to have big strips of fabric weaved through the trees kinda hiding the lights, so it gives a nice glow effect. dont do the whole cupcake instead of cake thing, i think its cheezy, just too lil kiddish. if you dant want a veil, do about 3-4 coloured roses in your hair instead (depending on what colour your hair is: yellow ones are AWESOME with dark brown hair) always write our own vows if you dont want to have 2 different places for the wedding and reception then dont. one of my friends had hers in a hall, and we all sat at tables with an isle down the middle, she got married, we waited for 15 mintues, and went back in and all the tables were moved to leave room for dancing. so convienent. if you're wanting to have it outside still this can work, just have an oversized tent just down from the ceremony. make your own wine for the wedding, and on the lable of the bottle have a picture of you and your husband with your wedding date on it. |

oh well then heres an idea as well, i had 2 friends get married somewhere else, and then have a reception here. they didnt do the vows again or anything, but they wore the dress/tux, and then showed us a very beautifully edited version of their wedding day. behind the scenes, and the ceremony then they did all the toasts and everything. |

Thanks for the tips!
The ceremony here will most likely be at Stanley park or up near ubc if I can find a good spot - early Sept. You can have a wedding anywhere outside (almost) for free as long as you don't set up any chairs etc and it's under 100 people. There isn't much I can do about the set up - I'm thinking i'll have everyone attending holding lights/candles. I'll think of something. That's a great idea about just having the reception which I will consider, but I would love a ceremony here during sunset :) My Mom's making all the wine :) |

Ive never really been to a wedding that I remember. So I have no idea what traditional is except for what I see in the movies. A church wedding might be too religouse for me and I would prefer somthing a bit more unique than vegus... I think out doors would be lovly :)
I always pictured having everything go wrong and we would be forced to order take out LOL. However in the end all I really want is a party/celebration with the person your starting a new life with and have EVERYONG we care about in our lives there:) Last edited by Ree Fresh; Feb 07, 05 at 10:44 PM. |

I went to jim/cubed's (he's portuguese) place for xmas ever dinner, and they have seafood for that dinner as well.
Plus, at almost all their other dinners, they bring out prawns very late at night. Like, after the appys, dinner and the desert. |
