Horoscopes for the Year of the Rooster
JANUARY is almost over, and we now look forward to February and Chinese New Year. What awaits the various signs in the Year of the Rooster. There will be a lot of predictions, of course, and we share with you one of them compiled by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Rooster: 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005
You're extrovert, entertaining, intelligent, organized and honest, but at times you can be proud, showy, bossy, obstinate, insufferably egocentric and blunt to the point of rudeness. So while there are rarely dull moments when you're around, tumult and discord are never far from the surface.
Much the same goes for your year, so beware of expending much-needed energy -- and money -- chasing your tail feathers in wild and untried schemes. Instead, immerse yourself in proven enterprises where your talent for hard work, order and efficiency excel. This can be a hugely rewarding year in the workplace, with promotion a distinct possibility -- though with money in your pocket, you'll need to manage finances carefully and restrain the impulse to splash out on luxuries. Personal relationships should flourish, so long as you keep an open and enquiring mind - and your tendency towards cockiness firmly in check.
Dog: 1910, 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994
The kind, faithful, straightforward, steadfast and honest Dog, has a time of ups and downs in the Year of the Rooster, with good fortune and bad in fairly equal helpings. Negative tendencies may affect you in several aspects -- from health and matters of the heart, to work and money matters -- but there'll be sufficient positives to balance them out and keep your tail held high.
Tread carefully, cooperate with colleagues and adopt a more flexible attitude at work, and you may sniff out new opportunities and even career openings. Romance could flourish -- just don't rush headlong into it. Financially, you'll need funds for unexpected outlays later in the year, so scrutinize the small print in all financial transactions and steer well clear of lending. Be methodical and cautious, make the best of the mixed fortunes, and you'll have a head start when your own Year of the Dog comes round in 2006.
Pig: 1911, 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995
Honest, intelligent, conscientious, unpretentious, good-natured and home-loving, you'll modestly flourish in the year of the Rooster. Your tranquil domestic circumstances should be reflected by steady financial affairs, just so long as you resist the temptation to plunge into risky transactions, or splash out wildly in the shopping mall. Knuckle down and put your well-honed communications skills to good use, and you'll be rewarded with promotion or increased responsibilities in the workplace, especially in the first and third quarters of the year. But beware of frittering away the extra rewards. Instead, plan finances in advance and save for the future.
It's in matters of the heart, though, that Pigs come into their own this year, either if starting out on a new love, or tying the knot in an existing relationship. True, there'll be some low times this year, but if you're patient when dealing with problems and share tougher ones with colleagues, friends or partners, you'll come through smiling.
Rat: 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996
The Rooster's energy not only benefits the charming, intelligent, hard-working and creative Rat, but it keeps you especially busy. So although events - some good, some bad -- follow on from each other in rapid-fire succession, everything turns out for the best in the end. At work, initiative and conscientiousness are the keys to promotion and advancement, but if you do succeed, don't fritter away your newfound wealth, as existing and newfound obligations soon place finances under stress.
The year's busy pace also extends to your personal life, with an endless succession of problems to solve among family and friends, a full calendar of social events to attend to (Rats are always in demand) -- and, if you're solo, a good chance of finding love. By pacing your life, prioritising and making time for yourself, seeking advice when needed and staying in good physical shape, you'll cope with the fast-changing turn of events just fine.
Ox: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997
The showy Rooster's antics seems light years away from your steadfast and tranquil nature, but don't be fooled: your shared love of order means this is a year of tremendous opportunity, mobility and achievement -- whether in moving house, changing jobs, or finding a new partner. In the workplace, tenacity and determination are finally rewarded with promotion or a career change, though you'll need to curb your natural rigidity and adopt a more flexible approach.
Be sure to guard finances carefully, read the small print of any new schemes scrupulously and beware of financial advice, especially from so-called friends. You'll get strong support in your all-important domestic life and, though you normally tend towards loneliness and introspection, this will also be a good year socially, with strong new friendships indicated. Romance flourishes too, either in an existing relationship or from a new love.
Tiger: 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998
Your courageous, charismatic and sometimes impetuous tendencies aren't so different from the extrovert Rooster's. No surprises, then, that this can be a highly beneficial year -- so long as you concentrate your energy and well-honed abilities on familiar tasks, and exercise self-discipline. Career and financial matters should both go well, with promotion a strong possibility and earning power enhanced. But you'll need to keep spendthrift tendencies firmly in check and run finances strictly to plan to make the best of this positive time -- as well as ensure that there's enough aside to cover the increased travel it looks as if you'll be doing.
This is a busy and positive year in your social life, with new friendships begun and old ones strengthened -- though your tactlessness and headstrong personality may sometimes prove a stumbling block. Romance is in the air, too, if only you can be that little bit more involved and considerate.
Rabbit: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999
Sadly, the Rooster's year is rarely an easy time for Rabbits. The best that can be said for this one is that it will be a time of variable fortunes, when sociable, kindly and artistic individuals like you are advised to keep your head down, your aspirations limited and sit it out patiently. Whether in work or in financial affairs, the watchword is consolidation, and as promotion is unlikely, this is a good time to store up for the future with study or training.
You're smart with money, so put that acumen to good use through forward planning and saving. Domestic life and personal pursuits will be far more rewarding, however, and the year offers a wonderful opportunity for you to put your artistic talents to good use -- perhaps by renovating your home. Social and family life will be fulfilling, too, barring the odd awkward incident in which you'll need to draw on all your reserves of tact. See this one through successfully and you'll fare much better in the Year of the Dog.
Dragon: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000
Good fortune shines on the flamboyant Dragon in the year of the Rooster, a time of superlatives when almost everything goes right. Whether in work, finance, personal life or romance, the indications are overwhelmingly positive. In fact, so long as you're prepared to act, you'll encounter all manner of opportunities in which you can put your abilities to good use, with promotion or career opportunities both beckoning.
Your self-confidence impresses colleagues and superiors, leading to personal and financial enrichment -- but you'll need to plan ahead. Long-distance travel is also indicated, perhaps the result of an unexpected windfall. Your social life looks equally packed and propitious, with plenty of opportunities for forming new friendships -- and, if you're single, a new partner. Support and advice from family members will prove invaluable, because with so much on offer you'll need to prioritize to retain your equilibrium.
Snake: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001
Suave and sophisticated, you'll slip confidently into the year of the Rooster, knowing that good things lie ahead. In fact, after the occasional setback at the beginning, this soon starts shaping up as an extremely satisfying time in almost every respect -- with the possible exception of money. In the workplace, past efforts and experience are recognized, and you could even be lured away to pastures new -- just be patient and you'll get your reward, especially if you're
willing to broaden your skills, expertise and knowledge.
As this is also a time of unexpected and costly outlays, avoid risky ventures and keep a careful eye on spending. In your personal life, devote time to your interests and enjoy your lively and harmonious domestic circumstances to the full. Although your social life may suffer, even involving a little animosity, the Rooster smiles on romance, and this could be an especially happy time if you're starting out in love.
Horse: 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002
Although the Rooster brings some irritations for the engaging but headstrong Horse, this is largely a time for progress. Sure, there'll be some niggles in the workplace, but with steady progress and constant self-improvement, you'll not only deal with these but also find yourself well on the road to advancement. Effort is the watchword: without it you'll get nowhere. It's just as well you're good with money, as this is not an easy year financially. Planning and saving are both needed to cover costly but necessary outlays, perhaps involving travel.
However, it's a positive year for your personal life. Indulge your hobbies and leisure interests to the full, as they prove especially satisfying. Family life is also full, supportive and happy just so long as you heed advice from friends and loved ones. Socially you'll flourish -- and there's even romance in the air.
Goat: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003
You're affectionate, considerate, quiet, creative and even retiring, so how do gentle Goats prosper in the year of the boisterous Rooster? By making plans, acting on them and sticking to them. If an opportunity comes up in the workplace or even in a completely different walk of life, go for it: your family life is settled, and it's a good time for a change. Think, too, about learning something new and don't neglect your artistic and creative sides, which bring so much enrichment.
Money is the major stumbling block, so plan ahead, keep a tight rein on spending and honor all your commitments -- especially as this is a year for travel and perhaps even moving house. Family and friends provide strong support at this busy time -- support you'll typically repay in kind. Your social life will flourish, too, with new friendships and perhaps an important new person in your life. Grasp the mettle, and this could be a year to remember.
Monkey: 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004
The Rooster tolerates your levity, mischief-making and agility, so this is a year of opportunity for monkeys who are prepared to put in the effort. Opportunities exist in the workplace but as competition is tough, brush up on your skills -- you'll need more than your persuasive charm and confidence if you're aiming to advance. You're prosperous enough, but you'll need to take care to stay that way, with overseas travel featuring high in a long list of commitments.
If you stay away from speculation, a disciplined and managed approach to finances should see you through. Personally and socially, this is a busy time. Family life is especially rewarding, offering a stable grounding for your active social life. Romance, too, is set to flourish. Don't get distracted by the frenetic pace: learn to pick and choose, giving yourself time to relax, indulge your own interests and appreciate the good things you already have.
