try http://cnet.com for reviews & user comments.
I'd go for one with a digital input connector (DVI). Although I know a guy who just got 3 17" LCDs (computer junkie) and they're analog, he says digital is just a smidgeon better and price was more important for him, $300 each. Try to get one with a lower response time as this will give less blurring or ghosting when you watch moving images. And higher contrast ratio gives blacker blacks and more realistic pictures. |

tomshardware.com CRTs will always be better then LCD for gaming refresh rates.. Although i haven't read much of the new technologies coming out this year and in the following years. Last i read the gap was slowly closing. You just have to decide what u want more, space/style/looks, or a big hulk with better performance.. |

I'm assuming that you are asking about LCD monitors ( ther are "flat screen" CRT type monitors out there).
Pretty much i've found that LCDs fall into 2 categories. There are the fast "16ms" screens. these tend to have fast pixel response times which are good for 3d gaming and movies ( fast action ).The downside to these are that they don't render color very well which is no good if your into photoimaging etc. Then there are the slower LCDs ( typicaly 25ms or so ). These ones seem to create colors very well but lack the responsivness of the 16ms LCDs ( you will notice a slight ghosting effect ). Some of the LCD if seen that do a bit of both ( fast response and good color ) are: Samsung Dell ( 1905 model ) viewsonic ( higherend models ) hope that made some kinda sense |
