ugh, i hate that book.
okay, 'hate' is too strong a word, but it is definately the most overrated piece of tripe in recent memory. the driving theory is so cliched, and so feminist, and none of the "facts" are true. all my friends in art history threw the book down in disgust. i admit i read it through in one sitting, but it was entertaining in a gas station psycho-thriller sort of way. it should never have been elevated to the status it now holds. it makes me sad to think that this is what so many people consider a 'great' book. :( |

I thought it semi-sucked. It had and ok build-up but then such a disappointing climax. Like semi-good intercourse with no explosive orgasm.
The only thing that really made the book interesting were the tidbits of "facts", say about davinci's works, that intrigues your average person. I think part of the success of that book relied on those "Facts". Otherwise, didn't think the author was particularly talented or anything. |

I saw them live and they were great. I heard about them from work, and I bought their cd a year ago. It took them a while to get this popular. |

you are wrong. some of the facts are true. just stretched. all the stuff he says about the christian relgion and what it was supposed to be like, is true. |

i liked it. not everything has to be true for the book to be good. i'm a reasonably intelligent person, and can seperate fact from fiction easily enough. if something doesn't sound true, i don't believe it until i've heard another source. it was a very engaging book, hard to put down. it's pop fiction, not the next great american novel.

i will give you that a select few statements of his could be considered not entirely false, but all in all... it's a joke. however, that said, it's still a worthwhile read in that the people attracted to it are those who barely read at all, and anything is better than nothing. </snob> |

Actually I think what made this book good to read is the fact that it played out like a Hollywood movie. This isn't a bad thing.
In fact, this is actually being turned into a movie as we speak. Last I heard, they were considering Tom Hanks for the role of Langdon. |

i'm talking about the things he said on how the religion has changed from what it was originally supposed to be. those are true. just look into pre king james versions and the templar writen bibles.
but i'm not going to talk anymore about this. to each their own. |

I thought it was pretty poor. They author basically spat out as many far-fetched 'facts' and pieces of random knowledge as he could in an attempt to impress people.
If you haven't already bought into the religious myths dealt with in this book, you probably won't find it very entertaining. |
