Steve Moore files lawsuit against Bertuzzi in Colorado
Local News Steve Moore files lawsuit against Bertuzzi in Colorado
February 17, 2005 - 4:15 pm By: Rob Fai Former Colorado Avalanche forward Steve Moore has filed a lawsuit exactly one-year after he was involved in a melee at General Motors Place against the Canucks. According to the Denver Post, Todd Bertuzzi, Brad May, Marc Crawford and Brian Burke are all listed as defendants in the suit. What makes the suit interesting is where it was filed as Moore opted for Colorado instead of Vancouver. Moore may try to take advantage of Colorado's long-arm statute where he can file from his own state even though the incident took place elsewhere. Lee Foreman and John Purvis, both noted US attorneys, will represent Moore. Purvis was also a part of Kobe Bryant's trial team. |

let's talk from the otherside of the fence people! i believe moore should be allowed to do this to bertuzzi consider bertuzzi messed him up royally and moore won't be able to play anymore. If you were playing a game of hockey and u were a player comin up in the league, u were just trying to rowdy up your team by making a big hit and u miscued it and hit him in the head, now ur on the bunt end of a stick, ur screwed, ur career is over, wouldnt u want to receive payment cheques of what is due for all the years u dont get to play in the league just cuz some guy lost his temper. True, Moore went after our captain, and gave him a clean elbow to the face... but it wasnt a sucker punch and he deserved payback, but Moore didnt deserve what he got, that is for sure. And because of Moore's condition, he wouldn't be able to accept cheques from the colorado avalanche in the future either during(?) or after his contract is up cuz he has no more game in him.

this whole thing is kinda sad.
it's a lose lose situation for steve moore either way. If he wins, he'll probably get a fat cheque but either way, his body will forever be damaged. Not to mention the psycological damage it has caused to him and especially his loved ones. There are few things in life as torturous as watching your family in pain. Either way, he has to pay for all his medical bills and legal bills which will probably stack up over the months/years. and in the end, steve moore will never play hockey again and bertuzzi will get paid millions to play in the NHL. Really, where is the justice? |

fuck that.....first off moore not a rising star so don't hype him up to be the next 40 goal scorer in the next 5 years. if it wasnt' for this bertuzzi incident, i'm pretty sure hockey fans wouldnt' even notice this guy besides colorado fans. i agree with you that he didnt' deserve what he got, but bert didnt' mean to break his neck, it was an accident, if the colorado players didnt' doggy pile his ass, he woudln't have got injured as severely as he did. when u pull stupid shit like what he did, u know there will be repercusions. he was just unlucky, got the worst of it. if he wasn't prepared to get hurt, he shouldn't try to be a gooon. |

I understand filing the suit against bert
but the others? thats just getting greedy this kid is gonna lose a lot of credibility cause now he's gonna look greedy going after so many people for money and why doesnt he file actions against the rest of his team that piled up on top of him worsing his injuries? I mean there must be at least a few more million in there too |

see this is the funny thing about canuck fans, most have the inability to look beyond the canucks and see that something else happened. If Bertuzzi smoked someone in the face like joe sakic, the whole avalanche team would be after bertuzzi next game and what if bertuzzi got his cracked vertibrai... hmm ok i guess it's not due justice that the guy who hurt bertuzzi gets a conditional discharge, Bertuzzi should get more, he deserve to get a cheque so he can live the rest of his life as best he can. Wow funny how this story works. Im a canuck fan, but i love debating about how one sided everyone is.
