www.yaletownyoga.com @ Richards & Davie.
It doesn't offer the type of yoga you are asking for but it's one of the nicest studios downtown. |

The way I got into yoga I took private one on one sessions..for about month. It allows the instructor to really massage the muscle groups your stretching and give you a real understanding of what each stretch is supposed to feel like, and it feels SO good to get a body rubdown after an intense class. But then, cuz it's far too expensive for me, I just do it at home and whenever I want I just go in for a one day class to get that YOGA feeling back :)

I've only taken yoga (Iyngar, Hatha, etc) in Ladner, N.Delta and Richmond so I can't really help you with a d/t facility. A girlfriend of mine does Bikram yoga in Vancouver (d/t somewhere I believe) but I'm not sure where. Wow... I'm not much help at all! I am currently in serach of a good class or video/dvd because I was really disappointed with my last class and haven't found anything decent that works for me right now :(
ANYONE HAVE ANY GOOD DVDS/VIDEOS TO RECOMMEND? I'm pretty experienced but still taking beginners classes (that might be my problem), and starting doing yoga 1.5 yrs ago, 2-3 times a week. HELP! Last edited by veN; Mar 07, 05 at 06:29 PM. |

I dont know of any places downtown but I do kundalini at Yoga West on 4th and Trafalgar. I really recomend it because there are different types (more breathing excercises or more pilates type thing), the studio is really nice and the instructers are great!

I value yoga for the way it centers me (and I'm not talking that "I am a rock, I am a tree" BS), limbers me (great for avoiding injury in all other activities you do, including but not limited to sports), and teaches me way to manipulate my body to work out kinks/knots myself. I have only done Iyngar and Hatha yoga. From what my many instructors have told me, I understand Iyngar to be about disciplined poses/form, and hatha is more about flow and breathing. Venita, what is is the principle of Kundalini? Anyone? I'm very curious! |
