Grand Cayman is not a part of the Hawaiian islands.
Grand Cayman is a part of the Cayman islands.
The Caymans are governed by the British Parliment whereas The Hawaiians are an American State.

There'a a lot of white collar criminals (big time swindlers) who move to the Cayman Islands where they can escape prosecution.

If you like sailing, the Caymans are one of the best places in the world. ***EDIT*** Oops I meant the Virgin Islands, not sure about Caymans.

Either place sounds great to me!

i assume that comment was for me. if it was, i already know that. i was just saying that maui is laid back as opposed to other hawaiian islands. if you want a more exciting hawaiian island, maui probably isn't the isn't the one you want to go to.

keep in mind, this is not for a vacation, i am thinking of moving there for a year or so to work and live.
i'm aware that alot of people go there as a tax shelter, there's no income tax.

ya, if i was to go to somewhere beachlife oriented to live, it sure as hell would not be hawaii...or the caymens.

there are a lot of nicer places in the world to live for a year that are cheaper, more diverse and beautiful, and attract less luggage with wheels.

I lived in the Caymans for 2 and a half years. Had some of the best times of my life, and I would recommend it to anyone. One thing to keep in mind is that the Caymans just got RAVAGED by hurricane Ivan, and they are definitely still in the rebuilding process. No matter what anyone tells you , there are still no trees left on the island, no power to some parts, etc.

I still have a lot of hookups down there, feel free to email me if you have any other questions.

As for maui vs. caymans, I would go to the caymans because there aren't any americans there! (well, some, but you make tax free bank off them!)

Cheers
J

I'd take the Caymans over Hawaii any day. I'd prefer the British rather than the Americans too. lol
