"Rave" - The Broadway Show
Great dancers at parties are a real treat to see. There are so many forms to so many different beats, it boggles the mind to watch how creative some kids can be with their expressions. I wonder if there's a market for it.
I imagine a broadway style show with a dj center stage, a crazy sound and light rig, and a cast of trained, professional dancers who are able to capture the unique styles found at parties. Set to a score of every type of electronica - from Wavy Gravy to Greece 2000 to Spin Spin Sugar - these dancers would perform solo and group choreographed scenes, telling an unverbalized story (TBA), and dazzling the audiences with sound, light and stage effects. It would literally be one of the most spectacular, up-beat and innovative shows on broadway. This show would sell for a bunch of reasons, the major one: mainstream North American society is mystified by the modern rave (they fear it, yet are drawn toward it) and by providing an accessible window to the scene, albeit a staged authenticity, people's curiosity would win out. Let the flames of this thread start FNK - ya it's commercialization, ya there's a bunch of problems with it, but could it work? What reactions would we get? Could we capture and project a party to an audience without passing e-bombs out before the show? And if so, who's got the money to finance it? |

I dont see any reason to flame, this is a hilarious topic.
*curtins up* the setting is a dark outdoor show. Toby and his partner Shara have just scored. Midnight rolls over, their bombs take full effect. But wait, Shara's had PCP.. where's the doctor?! Tragic loss, Toby setsout to find who sold him.. |
