re formatting will delete everything, you wont be able to start the computer with out a boot disc or a dos disk or something. but reformating always got rid of my viruses if i had one on my old computer. maybe you can get the people at a computer store to install window xp for you if you buy it from them or something.

you dont need any kind of boot disk as long as you have your windows xp cd
just reformat, then when you're done restart the computer, go into CMOS and change the boot sequence so that its your cd rom drive first, then your harddrive... then stick the cd in and boot from the cd.. a menu will pop up and choose to install windows xp john 2899131 |

That's the one thing that really really gets on my nerves whenever I redo my computer. I can never seem to find my universal CDROM boot disk anywhere. |

You should always have:
A DOS boot disk with a CD driver on it. Self exteacting copy of Winzip 8.0 (fits onto a 1.44Mb floppy). If you don't have any of the above I can supply it to you for $10 per item. :c-tard: Note! If you have any special cards or equipment installed in your machine make sure you have a copy of the installation drivers for them made BEFORE you reformat your computer. Unless you have a second computer with internet access handy, you will be crying once you wipe your drive and install any MS OS. |
