when i got the braces i had the option of getting the clear ones too, but the clear ones take about twice as long to straighten your teeth in comparison to the metal ones...
this was about 7 years ago though so im not sure if its still the same now |

I was told the price and the length of time you would wear em would be approximately the same was the regular braces... however, I chose not to do it because I preferred having the dentist work with something he was more comfortable with. a little thing about invisaligns though... I've never met anyone who's used em, but I've heard from other people that those who are on it talk really funny, which in turn make you wanna focus more on their teeth anyway. hehe. I fucking hate my braces, mostly because the insides of my lips get cut often.. but in terms of appearance, I've never been made fun of.. if anything, I've actually gotten some positive feedback. hehe. another option you could look into is veneers.. they're really expensive, but it can help kinda shape the tooth so that it doesn't look as crooked.... see, in order for your teeth to straighten, you gotta loosen the tooth and allow bone remodelling to occur so that the tooth stays in that position. bone remodelling takes time and I don't see how a 2-week procedure is sufficient time for that to occur. on top of that, if you move your teeth too fast, there's a higher chance of relapse occuring.. in terms of the length of time it takes to straighten your teeth, it all depends on your teeth and your dentist. it can range from a few months to maybe 7 years!! anyway.. for anyone who's considering getting braces, I totally recommend it. everyone I know who's ever gotten it says it's totally worth it (except for those who never wore their retainers :P). and also remember.. the younger you get it, the faster it moves! --Joanne :P |

^ i've heard that veneers can run ppl up to 800 dollars/tooth
i have perfectly straight teeth naturally, but i have a tiny gap between my k9 and molar on the right side that i really hate i've been thinking about getting braces even for that but i think that since my teeth are already close to being perfect, i could get away with only having to wear a retainer at night i'll look into my options further when i get a job this summer and start getting benefits |

I've never needed them myself but they have make the smiles of many friends look much better. Braces aren't what they used to be anymore though, I doubt you would ever get made fun of for it because alot of people have had them at one point or another and to make fun of something like that is kindof sad in the first place. The only problem I've ever had with braces is kissing somebody who had them, so just be careful and it shouldnt make much of a difference.
