mp3 players?
do you have one and what do you think of it?
im thinking of the creative zen touch, mainly because its the longest battery life i can find:Up to 24 hour(2) battery life at 128kbps. and i dont really want an ipod, they're overpriced and over-hyped. theres a lot better alternatives at better prices, imo. What do you suggest? |

i have one but its out of commision...dont let friends take things apart if theyre prone to not putting the things they take apart back together
if youre not gonna go all out and get something with a ton of memory id say dont bother mine was only 128mb or something so it didnt hold more than a cd and the extra data cards are way too expensive..mini disks are cheap as hell get one of those instead i just use a discman that plays mp3 disks//i get up to ten albums on one cd |

mp3's are not bad but WHATEVER you buy, no matter if it is GARUENTEED (sp?) by the extended warrenty. i've gone through about 5 mp3s and i treat them like it's my baby. what i have right now is a Rio Forge, i think its a Forge. for this little thing it's not bad on batteries, i use mine pretty much all day at school and it lasts up to about 2 weeks for 1 AAA. umm capacity wise this thing is wikkid. i bought the 128mb and if you want more memory, you can buy up to a 1.4 G and stick that memory card in this. my mom has a 1 G card for her digi and i can put it in my mp3, so far i'm happy with this one

i've got a sony md. works fine, no problems.
my buddy bought a new ipod last month, 400 after everything. which is imo just retarded. that's way to much money to spend. my md player cost $100 2 years ago. i've got an old md, those new ones can put like 40hrs on one disc, and a disc costs $5 or so. to each their own. but to be paying 400 is absolutely crazy imo. |

The ipod is comparatively priced to the products that compete with it, even if it does cost an extra 20 dollars or so, its well worth it. The ipod is only hyped because it IS the mp3 player all others are judged against. The other reason people like it is because its the only mp3 player that has access to best online music store.
As Synx said check the other threads, I'd go play with the different ipods and compare them to other players before you make your decision, I think you'll find the build quality to be much higher, most of Apples stuff is like that. |

"It's an iPod world. All the other digital music players just live in it."
That's from some men's magazine (GQ or Cargo) hahaha. I agree though, iPods are very hyped that everything's compared to it. Plus I can't think of any other music players that have all these accessories for it. I have an iPod mini. It's great. I bring it to the gym, school, car, everywhere. I was going to buy a shuffle, but the mini prices dropped, and with an edu discount, it was even cheaper. |

nobody EVER seems to listen to the MD suggestions, but.. i think you should get a sony MD. you can get em really cheap now. discs are dirt cheap, so you can carry around like.. gb's worth of memory with you no problem. battery life is way better in general. mine goes like 50 hours on 1 AA ..

I use it when I want to support the artist....By that logic only idiots buy records to play on turntables when they could steal it and burn it to cd. Obviously the majority of my music if not bought from a music store. So here goes my one line generalization.
Only poor people steal music Quote:

yeah but don't go and buy something because you want to be different and not get an ipod. I'm sure if you go use them all side by side you'll find the ipod has one of the nicest interfaces and has better build quality. I'm a firm believer that you just have to get all the different players in your hands and play with them, afterall you can always take it back if you don't like it.
