I've had a dram (about 1/3 of a shot) of a bottle of 30-year-old Glenfiddich - my rich boss picked up a bottle in the London Airport for £200 and brought it back to Canada. When he got it here, he found out that only 60-odd bottles of that particular run were ever bottled, and only *four* of them were shipped to Canada. All four apparently went to Toronto, but the Vancouver liquor board made such a fuss that the Toronto liquor board was forced to ship two of them out here. One bottle was opened and drank at the 'Hopscotch' festival here in town, and the other was auctioned off for over $1200! Damn. And you know what? I can totally tell the difference between a $40 bottle of scotch and a $100 bottle of scotch, but I *cannot* tell the difference between a $100 bottle and a $1000 bottle. :) I have a bottle of 'The Balvenie' here that my dad gave me, aged 25 years - but it's actually bottled in 1974 (the bottle is hand-signed by the malt master), making the whiskey two years older than me. :) I intend to have some of that bottle left for my 50th birthday.
