buying refurbished electronics...?

Specifically from a liquidation warehouse. Is this a stupid idea? Or should the camera (in this instance) be fine. And what kind of warranties do they usually come with?

I bought a refurbished Printer once... still works great. My Scanner I got from Future Shop was a refurb unit as well and I've never had a problem with it. I'm not too sure on the Warranty thing though.

Im pretty sure you can get warrenties over-top of a refurbished item, but then again it varries between stores.

I love refurbs.

Honestly, they'll work just as good as the regular stuff, sometimes even better (especially if there's been a recall). Half the price basically and the only real complaint is that you get a ratty box.

Unless you think the only ratty boxes that you want near you are on Hastings Street (zing!) then I recommend.

creative nomad jukebox nx! got it for 300 including shipping, still in perfect condition, greatly reduced price. no problems with it at all, i've had it for a few months now to.

i would say there's nothing wrong with going refurb, as long as you find out everything about the condition the product is in, before you purchase it!

usually reputable retailers (ie fs) would offer some kind of standard one for a short period of time, then after that expires you've got a manufacturer's warranty that covers after that period. the only pain with that is to get something fixed/replaced you have to send it to them directly which can take up lots of time.

nothing wrong with refurb stuff as long as you get an original warranty

everything i have seen comes with a standard 1 year warentee so you really got nothing to lose...
you might wanna look at it first... rare occasions the stuff isn't 100% perfect looking... but its almost always good

Yeah, that's the other thing. Make sure you get to look at the product (and if you take it out of its box PUT IT BACK! Thx - The Mgt) before you purchase. Especially if it's something with a screen (like a cell phone or a laptop).

refurbed electronics are fine. just make sure of a few things
a) no severe extrenal damage
b) has manuals (if you're into that sorta thing)
c) has all required cables/plugs etc
d) check for batteries
nothing sucks worse then finding out it needs a proprietary battery and its not there
