Birth.
Everything fascinates me about it. How did women ever figure out how to do it on their own? How does that much power and energy get harnassed into expelling another human being into this world without any pain medication? How do babies instinctually know to crawl up their mothers stomach while their still attached to their umbillical chord, and make their way to her breast without being able to see anything--relying on their sense of smell alone? How do they know how to rotate while their in the womb and get into the proper position to be born? How does the body know that nipple stimulation can cause contractions and help the uterus return to it's normal shape? How does the same hormone that's released during nipple stimulation cause the bond between mother and child to strengthen? Why do contractions slow down and get weaker when a woman is stressed during labour and stress hormones are released? I can't wait to learn everything about midwifery. I plan on working alongside other people who are as passionate about this topic as I am to end the medicalization of childbirth. Also, i'd like to improve birthing practices in developing nations in order to increase the rate of successful birth and improve maternal and child health. I don't think i'll ever get sick of this stuff and feel extremely lucky to be able to have the opportunity to work in this field, make a good living doing it, travel, and help change lives at the same time. I seriously believe that i've found my calling. *gushes some more* |

Hands down, number one, it's my garden. If I had my way, I'd have halogen lamps put in so I could work in there late at nite, not just during the day. True, I only rent the house I'm in, but the landlords are cool with me doing my thing back there. I've got a veggie garden, flower garden, rose bushes, grape vines, fig tree. I enjoy other stuff too, but when the days get longer and the weather gets nicer, I garden

For me, passions are non-materials.
Writing #1 Helping others/Volunteer work (make fun of me if you want) Acting/Directing, Theatre and Film I also love, Dancing, music, family, friends, art, fashion, design, drawing, food, accessories etc....but to me a passion is something that has great meaning to you personally and is something you love to do/be apart of. Those three things are my passions and are associated with the career goals that i have for myself. People with passions rock. It's important to care about stuff. :) And i'm the biggest barney..so i think ..i'll shut up now. |
