It just doesn't work that way.

I just got back from throwing my vote away. I went for the Turd Sandwich, but was really torn between that and the Giant Douche.

this form of democracy is so deceiving.
It boggles my mind how 1 extra vote could determine whether half the population inside imaginary lines created by society get their voice heard or silenced.

The NDP are showing over 30 seats right now! The results are showing that some people have woke up, and want a change. Maybe now there will be balance to the legislature. What's going with the Green Party??

Voted NDP. I know I know...

Bunch of reasons.. being in Gordon Campbell's riding, and hating Gordon Campbell was one of them. That's been my policy ever since I first saw his stupid face, and ever since I watched him as the opposition do nothing but just gainsay whatever the NDP's stance was. Didn't seem to have an actual, personal conviction in his fat head. So I tried to get him out by voting Lehan. Didn't work apparently.

Also I'm holding out hope that the NDP can balance their social justice platform (which the Liberals are making too much money to pay any attention to) with giving up less to unions, who had a stranglehold over the party when they used to be in power.

Read some impressive things about Lehan, although they weren't from unbiased sources.

Yadda yadda, I think that's more thought than most people put into voting anyways.

Two more thoughts:

- I really hope STV passes.. it looks promising right now

- On my ballot I had the option of choosing the Marijuanna party, or the Work Less party. Ummm... am I the only person who's had the brain storm: HEY MAYBE YOU TWO SHOULD GIVE EACH OTHER A RING, YOU JUST MIGHT FIND COMMON GROUND.

BC Election 2008: Say hello to the Work Less, Smoke More party!

For all those who voted NDP today:

http://archives.cbc.ca/300c.asp?id=1-73-1637

next time, take a long hard look at the history of the party you vote for. Voting for a party just because "They're Not the Liberals" isn't an excuse. Don't get me wrong. Gordo is the anti-christ, but he's not stealing money from charities and then somehow staying in power.

^ No he demands money from charities, community councils, and regular people. Not to mention the donations from the Hells Angels, and well all the big corporations.

Right. That's the federal liberals. Gordo's the drunk driver who somehow stays in power, I remember now.

But voting for the Liberals because "They're not the NDP" is an excuse?

Bottom line.. the old cliche, absolute power corrupts absolutely. There's no telling what trouble the Liberals would've got themselves into over the next 4 years if they'd been given the kind of mandate they had last election. I'm glad they've been checked somewhat this time around.

I don't see how that's democracy. Nor how any riding that wins by a dozen votes has one voice, and one voice that will almost always follow party lines.

Speaking of 60%... and speaking of the need for electoral reform... that's how much STV needs to pass =)

Looks like it's going to be close, but maybe no cigar :-/

The thing I've noticed about this election is that, it seems its not about who's best to lead but who's not the worst to lead. People still hate the NDP for the Clarke era and people hate the liberals for the last 4 years. The way the seats are going, it seems like the people haven't forgotten about the NDP's last 4 years, but are still wary about going with a 77 seat liberal majority government...

Man, I fucking hate majority governments. It wouldn't be so bad if there were more non partisan politicians.
