runaway bus!
i was walking a horse around the barn this morning while i was at work when i smelled smoke.
so i asked a fellow groom what she thought it was from, she said it might be from the accident with the school bus in the parking lot. i thought to myself "what the fuck kind of accident happens in a parking lot?" "how the fuck does a school bus hit 2 cars in an effing parking lot?" so i ask. i guess some dumbshit bus driver didn't put the E brake on and unloaded his bus load of kids. he walked away to playland and his bus went rolling down the hill, launched over a 3' high cement barrier and landed on 2 cars and hitting a truck! so i had to go check it out for myself. i put the trusty camera phone to work. Wow, so glad that busdriver had to go thru the class 4 lessons and exams. A lot of good that did him/her! Pfft. ALWAYS put on the e-break! A handy light comes on to tell you its been applied properly. You should be sure to see this light before you even turn off the bus.

did you know that those big yellow school busses don't have a "park" option?
you know when you pull into a parking spot you shift out of drive into park? well according to two butch women bus drivers who were amongst the spectators during the recovery of the ruined cars they don't. the two women stood there tisk tisking and shaking their heads about how none of THEIR busses would have done that. oh, i noticed that it was the bus from a christian private school that went AWOL. |

^ I inquired in-house... My dad has class 1 + air brakes ticket. He said that in the bigger vehicles they don't have park mostly bc you can't trust just park. You have to set it into N and apply e-break to "park" the vehicle. Also in some bigger rigs, you are expected to chalk the wheels too. Interesting...

All present day buses have automatic transmissions. They all feature a "PARK" gear. Some even have digital control, the system autmatically puts the vehicle in park, when shut off.
This is a case of someone not doing their job: - the driver didn't engage the vehicle into "park" This a policy with any company, in business of transporting people. Of course there's always sabotage! >=] |
