Jake- can I please borrow Americana? I love DeLilo's "white noise" sooo much.
Robin- I find it great that we've got the same taste in literature (very hot!), I've read most of the ones you reccomended, but you've got great taste (always nice to see another Rand lover) Ebbo- I read snowcrash years ago, totally loved it, some of the only sci fi i've enjoyed (other than adams and bradbury) Moe- I got to see Margaret Atwood do a reading of oryx and crake, it was really great! I definitely enjoyed that, but it's not my favorite atwood oh, and someone asking about good historical writing, if you really want to gain an understanding of russia during the revolution, read 'we the living' by ayn rand, this is not a 'feel good' novel, but very powerful, and captures russia during that time very well. |

u guys sound like u guys read relaly smart ppl books..
im huge on biographies/autobiographies.. they seem a lot more real and facinates me more because i know what i read actually happeened and its nice to see what someone else's life is like.. just finished the "tommy lee- tommyland". it was a really easy read and i learend a lot of neat lil things from the book..really really funny and crazy/out there/wild as well. he's a crazy guy, and crazy stories. highly suggest it.. entertaining book. have a mini crush on him right now, even though he's not hot at all.. he has a facinating and attractive mind. another book biography i enjoyed a lot was the cassie bernall bio.. written by her mom misty bernall called.. "she said yes". cassie bernall's a victim of the columbine shooting and the book goes through the whole life of the christian girl to when she was held at gun point. cried a ton reading that book. suckkkkeed, but touched me. next book i think im gonna attempt to read is taht paris hilton autobio.. if i get a quarter way through it ill clap for myself. dont ask..i just wanna read it. or maybe ill be crazy and read a fiction. |

"From A Buick 8" by Stephen King has been most recent favorite.
"East of Eden" by Steinbeck (sp) is my all time favorite book. Many solitary lines and many ideas have stuck in my mind from the first time I read it. A fantastic story about life, growing up, and looking back. Many simple stories of simple pleasures described with such brilliance. I can't say enough good about this book. |
