At the nexus, you see a tree that lives two twin keebler elves. Before knocking on their little door to ask for some directions, you see a sign overhead that reads:

WE ARE TWO BROTHERS. ONE OF US ALWAYS LIES, AND ONE OF US ALWAYS TELLS THE TRUTH. YOU MAY ONLY ASK ONE QUESTION.

Bear in mind, only one of these elf dudes will answer the door, and you don't know who's who.

If you are talking to the truth teller, the other is a liar. That liar would point to death, saying it is safe. So the truth teller points to death, as well.

If you are talking to the liar, the other is the truth teller. That truth teller would point to Life, saying it is safe. However, this brother lies, and points to death.
