Well on the site I found this at this was asked and your parts arnt kept frozen but by freezing them you change the molecular structure. They use it in Nascar so I cant see it being a massive problem.. |

^ There was no hum haw for me! I walked in wanting diesel and apparently so many other ppl had, they had no 2004's (autos) left when I went in (sept '04). Grabbed me one of the first 6 2005's from the lot and have been reaping the benefits of that 30%*+ better fuel efficiency since. Ya, it costs $1400 more initially for the diesel engine, but you save in the end. Go team TDI!
However, diesel is better for commuters than for ppl who just bop around town. Too many short trips (under 20min) doesnt allow the deisel to full burn enough and it hangs around and builds up. *I don't remember where in my research and test-driving I got this figure, but that's what I recall. I haven't actually done the math for this car to my old car/other cars in the same class as the Jetta. Last edited by veN; Jun 11, 05 at 05:35 PM. |

diesel as better as they're nowadays still emmit more pollution and particulates. if ur a diesel driver as of now, ur NOT environmentally friendly in terms of emmissions. not until about 2009 must all diesel vehicles meet more stringent standards. in california where polution standards are high, u cannot buy many diesel models of passenger cars simply because they do NOT meet emissions standards. so yah, ur getting more miles to the gallon, but ur doing it at the expense of the enviroment. this is especially true if u do alot of stop and go city drivin where diselmobiles belch out alot of soot. |

Its called Bio Diesel. It's renewable, low on pollution and your diesel engine requires no modification to use it. Petro diesel may be more polluting than gasoline, but last time I checked, there is no equivilant fuel for gasoline engines, unless your willing to undergo a bunch of conversion. |
