People don't kill people, COPS kill people...

From www.CNN.com:

Friday, June 10, 2005 Posted: 8:35 AM EDT (1235 GMT)

GASTONIA, North Carolina (AP) -- A police officer responding to an emergency call of a man struck by a car accidentally ran over the victim with his cruiser Thursday, authorities said.

Investigators remained uncertain whether the victim was already dead when he was struck a second time by the police car, said Sheriff's Department Capt. Tony Robinson.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was investigating.

The 911 call was received early Thursday, police said. After reaching the scene, officer J.C. May was blinded by the high beams of a parked car and struck the victim.

The man was in the road and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not available, Robinson said.

May was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Quick! They better put out another multi million dollar budget TV broadcast honoring some cops somewhere who died in battle, so everyone can go back to realizing how amazing they are. :)

Cops shot a mentally ill guy who was walking around his yard with a rifle when I was living in Calgary, about 200' from my house.

They didn't need to kill him but they did. Their stupid cop training is to shoot dead anyone if they think there is any danger at all. Instead they they could have blasted him with non-fatal rock salt or tear gas, or an electric stun gun, or shoot him in the leg etc.

The training Cops recieve is that they have to give verbal warning. Then there's a progession of force. I've taken similar training. It goes roughly like this... I might have transposed some.

i. Open Handed Force
ii. Close Handed Force
iii. Pepper Spray
iv. Impact Weapons
v. Stun Guns / Non-Lethal Munitions
vi. Deadly Force

When the Police are given their Firearms Training you don't shoot People "in the leg". Seriously man, that's movie bullshit. You're trained to aim for the centre of mass. aka the middle of your Chest. Biggest target and easiest to hit. No head shots and fancy crap. Besides if they have to draw their Gun; chances are you or the perp is a threat to their safety. Now I don't know the details of the case but I'm sure that 97% of the time the Police do their job the way it's supposed to be. I also have a couple personal friends that are in the Calgary Police Force and they are excellent Officers.

Yes well though the article doesn't specifically relate to the title, it just sparked something in my head. Yea, the title was a joke.

We threw a party last month, in white center, and the cops shot a guy who looked thugged out for sure, but wasn't threatening anyone. The situation between them escalated beyond control. He didn't survive. Though my title was a joke, I feel serious about the issue. I have witnessed 2 cases just in my life, of a cop, unnessacarily shooting someone (i.e. their own life was not in danger.) And I'm not trying to say they all do, by any means. There are plenty of decent cops out there. But there are plenty that aren't.

Either way, sucks about the cop running over that guy. I'm sure it was a total accident, but its just hella ironic.
RIP.

Ashes how would you like to be hated by everyone but when the public needs your help you can't get there fast enough. I'm not a huge fan of cops but I deffinatly respect them and the job they do it is a difficult one..

ashes, I don't mean to be hating on you but you show an immense lack of respect for something you apparantly 'feel so serious' about.
Next time you try to blatantly antagonize a group of people who's duty is to protect the public, you should think of a wiser method of making such a statement.

weak, that's all I'm going to say.

I hate cops, but not the people who are cops. They operate in a working environment that requires a "it's him or more me atitude." A true necessary evil in any society, to keep the mob in line with the law. If we didn't have the order they bring, who know's what life would be like....Mad Max????
