Oust The Teachers!

did you know that teachers only have a 5 hour workday?

did you know that teachers get summer and winter vacation off, just like students?

and they do all of this for 33-65k a year. they work less hours and less days and make a respectable wage.

pretty cushy, eh?

but it seems thay want more for themselves, and they're willing to sacrifice students to get it.

did you know that they are holding youth hostage in an attempt to gain a 18% pay raise for themselves?

the teachers in this province are currently engaged in an ILLEGAL strike that they call 'job action'. today single mothers and working families have to scramble to find alternate arrangements to house thier kids... or take a day off of work.

and what of the kids? the stories are many.

at one school, the music playing graduating class worked hard all last year with car washes and bake sales to get enough money to go on a trip to hawaii... this is a trip they will never take, nor be reimbursed for thier hard work.

all grad events cancelled until further notice.

sports stop midseason, destroying chances for some less well off students to ever get the chance to go to a post secondary school

the scholarship clubs that so many kids rely on are out the window.

the plays some kids have rehearsed all year will never be preformed.

...sure, these are volunteer activities for the teachers. there is no law or contract saying they have to do them. but the teachers made a commitment when they started these programs or kids. they are breaking promises. they are doing to our youth exactly the same as they are protesting is being done to them.

step up and don't be held hostage by a self serving union. kick a teacher in the ass today and call them a fuckhead.

i'm against the whole dispute with u, but u have to recognize the fact that a teachers job doesn't end when the bell rings.

but yea they get all those holidays and they still take home around $35-40k a year... i wouldn't be complainin'...

main reason for the strike is probalby the teachers want their pay uped before they retire. that way when they retire they get more benifits
