I have come across the following expression in my reading and i dont really understand it. does anyone know the origional source, meaning, or context? who wrote it? or what the expression means today? any of this information would be appreciated. thank you. :)

..."fools and knaves"...

thank you.... hopefully i will find a better answer out there somewhere and then i may be able to understand what you are saying to me :P

(but hey, even not knowing what they meen, i think i would rather be the knave!)


i dont think it is related, but who knows.... i did find out that a Knave is another word for the Jack in a deck of cards....

a fool is someone who lacks good judgement and a knave is a someone who lies and is unreliable. so fools and knaves together = stupid, lying s.o.b.'s. =D

I've used the word Knave randomly throughout High School to describe various underlings. :)
