Well..... its only a "tentative" deal.... meaning that the deal is not finalized yet. So there are still some things within the negotiations that need to happen before the deal is finalized and especially at this point any other area of disagreement could scrub the currenty proceeding deal right over

DJDeeb is on a distinguished road

On the ice, major rules changes are being examined which will hopefully open up the game and create more excitement, likely including the reduction in the size of goalie equipment, allowing the two-line pass, and the penalty shootout to decide tie games during the regular season.
I'm liking this part...should make the game a bit more interesting.

So now that the NHL pretty much guranteed to return I would like to know your thoughts on how the Canucks will stack up in the 2005 and 2006 season. You do know with the new CBA that the Canucks will be one of the few teams that will be able to wheel and deal.

There has also been talk that Joe Sakic is wanting to finish off his career in Vancouver....hmmmmm
Also Kariya has said the same sort of thing too.

Todd Bertuzi will be playing for us next year....maybe he might miss a couple weeks in the start....but he'll be there. i don't think he wants to be traded or the canucks want to trade him either.

If anything we might lose players like Cooke etc ( the lower paid players ).

Goalie pad reduction, whats that going to do but make the games like 8-5, 6-4 etc.

They dont understand that we want to see the game played at a high level, we want it more entertaining, but reducing the size of the pads, all thats going to do is give players better stats.

We want quality not quantity.

Question is though how much do you you think Sakic and Kariya will ask for? IF Paul comes perhaps it's the return of little Stevie Kariya. I never lost hope in that kid and after leading the points in the Swizz League he deserves another shot!!!

I'm already guessing sakic will be asking for 3 and Up plus bonuses.

How do you know that though? how do you know that the pad reduction will effect the goalie's performance that greatly? It still hasn't been tested well enough to make a conclusion on the scores. Besides I like the reduction idea some of the pad sizes are ridiculous. LOOK AT LUONGO. Not to take anything away from him but his pads are freaking Huge.

NHL is based on skill now that the pads for goalies are being reduced I want to see how skillful each goalie is.

nah man. they are reducing them not makin em toothpicks.. right now they are too big. lots of goalies are 6' 200+ with huuuge equip and the players are sick of it. it won't affect the scores a great deal, but there will be a bit more scoring. i'll tell you right now its frustratin playin against a goalie who is blockin the whole net with his pads and not his skills.

DLO604..... if canucks don't start the season with naslund and bertuzzi, or don't ever end up with them again...... i can tell you right now, it doesn't matter how great the new players are, they won't do SHIT ALL for another 3-4 years. guaranteed.

Obviously with the departure of Bertuzzi and Naslund you will expect big names to be signed or traded for. Bertuzzi still has value. Naslund will either get his contract bought out or will play out the value of his contract.

I personally want to see Alex Auld start this season muahaha.

yeah I realize that, I was just saying it doesn't matter how good the new players are the team won't do shit all for another few years. it happens to every team when the core is broken up.

But if what DJDeeb is true than Sakic and Kariya coming in would be huge though it wouldn't really be a replacement for Bertuzzi but certainly for Naslund it will be.

I personally love the style Bertuzzi plays and hope he stays. You know what they say cheap shot for cheap shot. Moore's shot was a cheap shot as was Bertuzzi's.

This year will be interesting that's for sure!

Sakic and kariya will be able to make a pretty big impact right away if needed.

ive noticed that last year bertuzzi was less physical and more flashy offensively, i hope this suspension didnt kill his physical play for good.

Very true rawb. I wonder what would have happened to the flames if he was in the line up. I think it would've been a whole new ball game. Nucks pushed it to a game 7 without Bertuzzi.

With Bertuzzi in the line up it may have been more ice for naslund and more troubled mika.

how are they getting sakic and kariya ? do you know what they want to give up? I haven't read anything about that

if they got sakic .....!!!!! now that's a player that would fit in instantly. he would work so well with bertuzzi, assumin bert plays.

kariya i'm undecided.. he's cool but i'd rather have somebody else.. then again the canucks have a very big team and havin another small fast guy would help.

definately, dude creates space.

i actually liked the post-bertuzzi offence we went into the playoffs with, it was new and dynamic. almost pheonix suns like. i think it came togeher really good based on what we had/the small time frame we worked it out in.

Yeah but in the end we didn't generate enough though the last minute rush was pure priceless to send game 7 into overtime! hahaha
