Car audio question

So, I have to replace my old 10" subwoofer because it is cracked.

What do you people suggest? I'm not going to go any bigger than 10" but I am willing to dish out a fair amount of money for a good sub.

If you make a suggestion, I'd appreciate it if you gave a link to the products information page.

High end is good for me. My current box is enclosed and I generally listen to heavier rock ie. Soil, Flaw, Seether... etc.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

I like the sound of a single 10.

10s have a better response time
it all depends on what you listen to

Go with Infinity perfect series. It's really the best shit for higher end stuff without blowing a giant hole in your pocket. Great tight sound (especially for rock i'd imagine) Very VERY durable, these things are hard to blow. Will work with ported or sealed boxes depending on the measurments.

I've had 2 infinity perfect 12's in my car for a while now, i've cranked the shit out of them (with a 1200w RMS soundstream amp) and they hold their own. They turn heads if you need them too, they're durable as hell. Def worth the buy. MTX and such others don't even come close. Seriously, at least have a look.

Oh PS: Futureshop USED to sell them, although I bought mine online, so, if they don't carry them anymore, you can find a good deal on the good ol net.

PPS: http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA+PERFECT10.1D' &Ser=KPE&Cat=SUB

or

http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA+PERFECT10DVQ' &Ser=KPE&Cat=SUB.. if you're hardcore.

The amp will make the biggest differance in how a sub will sound. If you have a 200watt rms amp and get a 400wattrms sub it will sound like shit cause the amp can't control the sub enough. 3/4 of all blown subs are from underpowering them. So best to find a sub with a similiar rating as your amp over evan lower then it. Mtx, Infinity, JL and Alpine all make decent subs for the money.

you just haven't sit in a vehicle with expensive 10s..

i've been in your car, im not hatin or anything, but the subs don't sound right in there.

2 , 10" JL subs , higher models, will rock out a lot crisper and true for rock/metal /breaks etc .. as long as the box is made properly.

bass is about quality over quantity in my opinion

^ exactly

I run 2 x 10" Bazooka RS series subs (top of the line sub made by bazooka) in a sealed box, powered off a JBL 600 watt mono block amp (actually its only running at 300 watts right now)

It's pretty damn loud. I can max it out and it sounds clear and crisp, HARD hitting bass with no distortion. I will usually set off car alarms as I drive by, and it outpowers most 12" and 15" setups playing electronica. Rap/hip-hop is another story though

As far as music goes, 10" subs are your best bet if you listen to a lot of rock, and electronica. JL or the bazooka RS series are prolly fairly high up there for 10s

12" and 15" subs(in a ported or better yet, bandpass box) are definately the best way to go if you're a big hip-hop/rap listener

I think I've decided on the Infinity Perfect series. 10" of course.
