Although you could go the route and use a laptop to mix tracks on this alows you to mix with an actual mixer. That is way more practical than using a mouse to click the fader from one side to the other.
This kinda looks cool but there is no pitch control????? |

It's probably a Numark product like a "concept car" just to try things out and for PR. But I've read that there are clubs in New York area where they let people plug their iPods into the sound system - each iPod owner selects their fave tunes and if they get applause they can stay hooked in, otherwise another iPod person gets the next shift
I use a laptop and midi box so I have mixer-like knobs and fader to adjust rather than doing everything by mouse & keyboard |

It's hard to hack into the OS of the iPod. The holders of the iPod OS are not letting any of these DJ companies to edit their software. No source code has been given out - thus the lack of pitch control on all devices that use iPods for mixing.
Howerver, I heard that someone is pretty close to hacking the scroll wheel of the iPod to make it so that you will be able to scratch your tunes. Hahahhaa... |

In order for that to happen, they either need to create a built-in hard drive which will take a whole song from the iPod and store it in the memory for pitch adjustments - or they need to modify the iPod OS to be able to control the speed of the track on the fly through a connection port. None have been done yet. |
