Tech Help - Advanced Excel Q

I am currently trying to create a form spreadsheet. I am trying to make it easy for my Ops guys to do their expenses. And I want a spreadsheet that they can enter in their numbers and it does the math for them.

The issue I am having, is I can't seem to protect the spreadsheet properly to ensure that the formula's in the formula field stay put. I can protect the spreadsheet, and then no changes can be made. It won't allow me just to protect the cells.

What the heck am I doing wrong?

you could try hiding the cell formulas...
  • unprotect the worksheet
  • select the cells or formulas to hide
  • choose Format > Cells
  • click the Protection tab
  • check Hidden and click OK
  • reprotect the worksheet

also, depending on what version of excel you're using you can assign permissions to blocks of cells, which is pretty handy if you want to make only certain cells take specific input (like numbers)

in Office 2k3: Tools -> Protection -> allow users to edit range
