if you've ever wondered why i love my job..
some of you who know me well wonder why i work the insane hours and go for 5 months without a day off.
this might explain it a bit. watch my big horse, No Sox Fox, win the CTSH Sales Stakes Colts and Geldings Division. now that was a horse race. that's me holding him in the winners circle. http://www.hastingspark.com/Race%20Replay%...005.aspx#june19 race number 7. this is one nice colt. but not as nice as the new one i groom. i now groom Alabama Rain. watch as he beats No Sox Fox, the horse i used to groom, in the Jim Coleman Province Stakes. he's made close to $200,000 already. race 7 http://www.hastingspark.com/Race%20Replay%...2005.aspx#july3 now Alabama win the BC Cup Day Colts and Geldings Division, he won it like a champion race 4, August 1 http://www.hastingsracecourse.com/Ra...2005.aspx#aug1 the jockey pulled half of my mane braids out :( he's now in Edmonton prepping for the $300,000 Canadian Derby, when he returns we're going to get him ready to run in the BC Derby, the richest race in BC at $250,000. |

so i bet today.
i never bet usualy. but my friends horse was going off at 6/1 and dave's horse was 8/1, so i did a $1 exacta box, 2,5,6 and bet $5 on 5 to win. i paid $11. i made $102.80 and i went to get drunk. i can't wait for tomorrow, i have Whata Blurr and Flight of Fancy in the same race, both are ready to win, i'm going to do an exacta box with those two plus Terry Jordans horse Filly's Gone Wild. |

A girl I used to hang w/ in high school, and my brother both worked at Woodbine Track in T.O.
I've never been ON a horse, but, they used to sneak me into the back-stretch shed-rows to party. Imagine being gooned outta your gourd, stumbling around, w/ $multi-million thoroughbreds sticking their heads out of their stalls at you.... The very first time I went to the track w/ my friend, she went over to chat w/ dem dreads and got the winner for one of the upcoming races. She shoves the list in my face and says, "Pick one.". I randomly pointed at one, and we went and bet the exactor, both ways. We won! No big coin, but, still, with two more wins through the day, we ended up getting drunk, getting ganja, and still heading home w/ $20 each, just on mimimum $2 bets! Good to hear you're liking the track. Glad to hear you're making good on all of the tips that get passed around the track (some better than others...). Frosty (Trackers are a breed apart, like Carnies and Stunt-people) |

or waking up at 5pm on a mattress behind one of the barns, hammered, and stumbling up to your friends room. no hangovers for me. you can't be hungover if you get drunk early, a trick i learned a long time ago. trackers are a breed apart, although not all of them ared the same, i like to think i don't live up to the stereotype. |
