What is your strength/weakness in whatever art it is you create?
or in other words, what do you enjoy doing, what would you like to improve upon?
For example, I have many ideas in my head that I would like for a painting, but I don't think I have the right skills to project my ideas onto a canvas. (to get it to look the way I want it to) I've began small projects to teach myself more precision... Most of the drawings I have created in the past were just for projects, so it's a little different now that I'm beginning to look into art more seriously this year.. Any one who can draw things in precision are inspirational to me, or else have a good grasp of shading... I'm still a little sketchy in that area, because up till now most of my drawings have been free thought, (abstract, surreal?) without considering any realistic effects... I play around with shading sometimes, but who knows if it makes sense or not.... technique is my weakness, and I want to improve upon that... I think Grid work, will help me quite a bit, and Ink art is neat because I can't use my fingers to make a shading effect, so it makes it much harder, and helps me become more precise.. ;) yourselves? |

ummm.... weaknesses? I could go on forever!!!! ..
one thing I know for sure is I SUCK at watercolour painting.. dun like that waterish effect... blah... and I use pencil/ink too much!... don't use colours enough (like stabby).. I think I draw too much from observation, not enough from memory/imagination (free-thought included) and my strengths I guess I have a few, haven't really pinpointed them yet but my art teacher seems to think they're there! lol... I guess I can draw still life stuff pretty well, and the technical stuff (perspective, contrast, compostition, line, shading, etc...) I have a pretty good base in... meh? at least I hope I do! lol Yoko~ I know your really good at the free thought drawings, and you seem pretty damn good at the realistic type as well!.. but u say the technical u needa improve?.. I think that'll jus come with a bitta practice since it's obvious you already have the skills necessary to do it! *keep it up* ;) ~breezy |

I find it a lot harder to make a "free-thought" type drawing than a more realistic kind.. Because I can compare it to what I see.. I wish I could be able to jus put my pen to the paper and come up with something beautiful like u can!.. I jus love ur style (from the three pics at least) :p.. when I try I usually have to start with something realistic and then from there add some more abstact thingies in it~ I guess we all have our own styles that work for us :p Quote:
I'm having the opposite problem as u where I have TOO MANY ideas for my sketchbook project! I can't possible do them all :(... lol.. ah well :p ~breezy |

weaknesses, i can't draw people and most animals very well at all. i can never get the proportions right so i'm never happy with that. i'm not too good with paints either, i used to paint quite a bit but then i stopped, didn't have the right environment and setup, and when i tried to do it again i was so out of practice! i think painting is one of those things you have to keep doing and keep practicing and experimenting with otherwise your technique goes downhill (at least that's how it is with me anyways).
i like working with pens, mostly fine tipped ones, i usually just sit down and start doodling. which reminds me i should go get a new pen to draw with.... i haven't been feeling too creative lately though. |
