coming to canada
Hey everyone. I am new on here. I'm an aussie and will be heading over to vancouver and whistler around mid novemember. I was just wondering what the scene is like? I into breaks , d+b and hip hop mainly. other questions I have are:
-what is new years eve like for parties? -who are best locals to see? -what are the best club nights to go to? any help is much appreciated.

New years... depends... theres usually a variety. I got with the smaller jungle parties tho. those never fail.
best locals...... we have so many. tho... many of them are under appreciated and.. the shit Djs get all the attention. IMO. club nights.... friday the met... if thats even a club?! I dunno bout during the week, cause I live to far away to go out.

Dabbler is good shit. i aint even from vancouver but ive heard some great sets by the guy. It was probably one of his sets that had a part in me gettin into d*b sounds about 5 years ago, this casette tape my buddy's older brother scored from some guy in alaska... old memories. That tape was the shit!

heres another fine establishment you should visit on your stay in the greater vancouver area.
pancho & lefty's, on king george hwy and 107th, you should walk out of there feeling superior to everyone that frequents there, if you leave early (which you most likely will) you should check out "red hot video" which is on the same block on the corner of east whalley ring road and 108th avenue. surrey has endless possibilities in many aspects. edit: holy crap i just found a site for them

Pacific, Psidream and Dabbler are all top shelf dj's and producers. So check them out when you get into town. Automatic tuesdays, Fridays at the met. Pendulum show coming in sept. The hip hop expo is coming up, TONNES of talent coming through in sept. Spectrum events is THE shit when it comes to hip hop shows.

well some of the stuff sounds pretty interesting. Im coming over in novemeber so will miss out on the septemeber action. next week looks like a bit of alright with high contrast and the breakfastas. but how come on they're on weeknights?does say toronto or montreal get these acts at the weekend. definitely hit the pendulum show, caught them again a few weeks ago and they were shit hot.pretty trashy nite tho. oh well.here's to more suggestions.

FNK is the place to be for Raves
^^^ I'd have to agree with MIssbehavior.
Vancouver is totally about "house". If you're looking for breaks or Speed garage you'll have to go to a rave. As far as club nights go I'v had fun at the "Red Room" on Saturdays down by East Hastings and Richards. (house mostly) Events like NYE seem to always have a massive or two usually down by the Pne. (Agrodome whatever).

If your here that long you will see tonnes of shows and parties.. just keeping looking at this site.. pretty much every party or dj coming to town or clubnight is posted on this site.. .. alot of promoters advertise there nights here.. very good site for getting informed about the city.. we are all addicted to it.. its like a drug

^^ yeah I've figured that out pretty much. i just want to get a feel to see what goes on, especially as I am pretty excited. As for the addiction im constantly on a couple of aussie based sites like this one. so heres to more scrolling through internet forums
