kindness of strangers
Last friday I had my wisdom teeth out. They were impacted, so I had to go to a specialist for surgery. After I got out from that a friend took me to get my perscriptions filled on the way home. While we were waiting for my drugs I started to bleed a lot and I realized I lost the gauze they gave me to help stop the bleeding. There was a dental office near by so we went there to see if we could get more. By that time my mouth was full off blood and it was running down my face, plus I was still messed from the drugs they had given me for the surgery. There were two receptionists at the dental office, the one closest to me gave me an "ewww gross" kinda look and said she didn't even want to look at me. The other girl was a huge help however. She went out of her way to help me get cleaned up, got me new gauze, and even offered to get my in to see the dentist for free so he could check my stitches. While I was standing there I got light headed and so she let me sit in the waiting room and checked on me every once in a while until I was feeling good enough to go home. Today on my way to work I brought her flowers to thank her and show my appreciation for how she totally went out of her way to help me when I needed it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm glad that I live in a world where strangers still help each other out from time to time, and that I could find a way to show my appreciation for it.

That was nice of her.
Your Dentist must be an idiot or something because it shouldn't do that lol. Did they find out what was wrong? When i got my wisdom teeth pulled out i was recommended a specialist by a dr. friend of the family. I got all 4 out, didn't hurt, didn't swell, didn't bleed even 5 minutes after i woke up. |

i started to bleed a lot as well when i was in the car on the way home. but my mom (who's a nurse) took care of me. nice of that woman to help you out though. the other woman just sounds mean. i don't see how you could work in a dental office if you can't handle something like that? |

Its diffrent for everyone, I got all 4 of mine out and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I was in horrible pain for almost 4 days and i was swollen for well over a week. I ended up back in the hospital after about 6 days because the inside started to swell and then somthing burst and bled everywhere.
I remember the operation becasue i was awake for it and i know he was having troubles with the bottom ones. Mine were impacted on their sides as well and he had to break them into like 5 pieces each. ugggg makes me sick to think about it. |

That's GREAT that you really showed your appreciation for her help by giving her flowers. I'm sure that it meant a HELL of a lot to her. I find that people don't do that enough nowadays, ie-show appreciation to others for their kindness. I think that especially when people go out of their way during their jobs, people just come to take that service for granted because the individual is getting "paid" for it.. but people forget that not everyone will go out of their way to service someone even if they are getting paid to do it.
It feels great to get recognition for something that you went out of your way to do for someone when you didn't even need to do it. I'm sure that the girl you thanked went home happy and glad that she could provide you with help. Good for you :) |

That's way better then what I got! When I was leaving the dentist after getting my wisdom teeth stitches taken out, an older homeless man told me I was really pretty and asked me to marry him. He was like eating greasy french fries with gravy and ketchup smeared all over his face.

same. my top top ones were growing into\or would have grown into my ears, my bottom ones faced inwards. i didnt have any bleeding, or any pain. i had some discomfort but was mostly put out from the incapability to open my mouth. the day of my surgery i went to a rehearsal at night for the play i was in to sit and watch it. the next day i had to go in for a bone scan due to a an injury and walked around new west for an hour while i waited for the radioactive stuff to go around my body. definately different for everyone.... anyways, congrats on getting those awful things out. and congrats on finding a good person in this godforsaken world. and congrats for BEING a good person by showing appreciation to that person. |
