Ok, my good friend is moving to Toronto, and as a going away present, I wanted to give him a package of Vancouver things.

So far, I've got a translink bus ticket thing, a postcard, a streetmap.

What else is there?

Oh and no weed, he has to make it through customs.

Things that say vancouver... get him and Old Spaghetti factory tourist package, they give them otu for free and get him a stanely park map. Maybe some cards from a couple of clubs he likes. Um... a seashell from the beach, something that says vancouver on it like a funky t-shirt or something... does he go to school here, you could get him a momento from school, you could steal a sign or something that screams vancouver... I dunno the possibilities are endless.

aww so nice, is this for Andrew by chance?

I'd say instead of just giving him things that'd make him think of Van as a whole, give him things from places where the 2 of you hung out a lot or had good memories.

Make him a bi memorabilia of pictures and movie tickets and all that stuff on a bulletin board and just go crazy with it, the options are endless, then you can print stuff off the computer and he ahs something to take with him and hang where he lives in toronto :D

He has a dog named Austin and has jokingly mentioned he wanted the Austin Avenue street sign in Coquitlam, but I don't know how to get that hahaha.

Should have said something when I was living right by there. All you need is someone with a Skate Tool. The Kingpin Nut is the same size as a standard Street Sign Nut. Easy! I have 69th Ave from where I used to live in Surrey.

I like those mugs from Starbucks that have a skyline of well known local buildings and say "Vancouver" on them. Kinda cheesy/touristy, but I think they are cool.

maybe go collect some nice shells/rocks/weathered glass from the beach, clean them (usually soak them in water for a few days + scrub w/ a toothbrush) and glue them to a plain wooden photo frame in a really nice tasteful design, stick a picture of the two of you in the frame..or if all else fails, use a postcard from vancouver as the picture inside, or even nicer would be a rad picture you've taken of something that screams Vancouver.

I didn't mean customs per se, I meant the whole process of getting on a plane, etc. He wouldn't want anything that attracts more attention. He's already bringing his dog on a flight because the dog is for "special needs" or something like that.

Anyway it's all moot. He doesn't smoke the weed anyway. Maybe I'll just draw a marijuana leaf.
