converting rm files to mp3 files

I dunno if im posting this in the right spot, buuuutttt, i want to know what is the best free program that will convert rm files to mp3 files? I am using Hero Audio Converter 2.7.3 and it works but it is reeaaalllyy slow, it only goes 8 kb/s.
sooo any suggestions, help, anything???

FLAC files are also ridiculously large... probably only compress at about 40%...

Though, that is lossless, which is nice.

^ Exaaaaaaaactly... I believe you can compress some more though. I haven't played with it too much yet. Just enough to know it sounds damn nice.

That's because it's not near-cd quality, it is cd quality.

Theoretically, if you converted from WAV to FLAC and back to WAV, and checksummed the track before and after conversion, they'd come to the same...

I'd like to test that at some point...
