Calling all knowledgeable snowboarders...
Im looking to buy a new board this year and I really have no Idea what to get. Im preaty sure I want an ALL MOUNTAIN board because the majority of my riding is speed based and taking tight turns through trees, however I want to get more into jumping so a board that will give me good use in most situations would be awesome.
Iv been riding for about 8 years now So Iv got the sport down, Im definatly not a newbie rider. However I defiatly am a newbie when it comes to snowboard shopping. I have not had a chance to ride many boards and right now I own a cheap POS, which im definatly not very happy with. Im preaty much lookign for a great board, definatly not anything entry level. I dont want to spend the world on it, but anything $600 or less is fair game... however Im a university student so Im also looking for the best deal possible, but Im willing to pay up to 600 to get a good board. Does anyone have any sugestions? brands/models wise. Also any sugestions where to pick the board up from? Im part of the SFU snowboard club so we get 15% off at the Board room. Iv never been there so I dont know what their proces are like. I also know there is a snowboard/ski swap thing coming up on oct. 21-23 in vancouver.. Iv never been to this but I have heard that there is some good deals.. any one know of this thing? or have any other recomendations where to get great gear cheap? anyways my main concern is about a board.. so rant away about your fav board to ride on :) |

of ya, the ski and swap meet is also a great place to find good quality boards, boots, and bindings. I got a brand new Option Redline board (that years model) with bindings for $250. I also snagged some awesome brand new Forum boots, Peter Line Signature model, for around $200... they retailed at $600 at the time. :)

Id love a directional board, but I also want a bi-directional so i think ill be getting a bi directional just so the board is more versatile. Im tryign to perfect riding switch, and its nice to be able to land goign the otherway without breaking a sweat. |

Handbuilt, rides like a dream. I own 3 of them, 2 159cm all terrain/boardercross and one 169cm 4WD. Thie first BX board I have I put over 300 days on so far and it still rides great. Try doing that with a Burton McBoard. Prior is worth the money and if you know how you want the board to respond/feel then it's the only way to go. It'll last you 4 seasons easy if you take care of it. |

Ski and Swap meet's are your best bet for sure. Snowboard.com also has a lot of members who sell for great $, you just need to ask around.
