Best pick :: Digital Cameras
Checkin out the market on digital cameras
Wondering if anyone has one they love or one they dream of having basically lookin for suggestions and ideas. Im lookin for: 4.0 mp minimum (preferably 5.0 or higher) not kodak, dell, hp or sony under $500.00 compact (not too tiny) and strong body long battery life (pref international adaptor) Other things i'm not too concerned about but would be nice: higher optical zoom closeup/macro mode (ex. nikon 950 can take vivid pics from 2cm) weatherproof nikon, pentax, olympus Suggestions?? |

i recently purchased a panasonic DMC-LS1 4.0, its nothing crazy but if youre looking for a simple point and shoot camera that has all the neat little features that a camera of its price range should (249) then i suggest looking into this one. it also has a larger than average lcd monitor for preview or reviewing pics
heres a pic of said camera |

-wow-
best prize for hijacking a thread with a "my penis is bigger than your penis" post goes to... Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought compact was hot when it comes to cameras these days ;p That aside, I'll agree with you on several counts: pixels don't matter unless you're getting bigger than 5x8 picture size or printing. I intend to do both possibly, so the higher res might actually matter for me. Also, Nikons are pretty dope right now. esp the ones with auto adjustment indicator and the new compact with 10x zoom... Canons may be known as top of the line, but any suggestions for models? Not the rebel series. I need it fairly compact for travelling but I don't care to pay extra for super tiny packaging either. |

wow...wuts with all this dick wagging about overated nikon products???
anways, from what youve said i think the cannon 'elph' series would be good for you. i have a 3rd generation elph and have travelled all over the world with it....and its still rock solid and can give you pretty decent exposures when you learn how to use the aperture and iso settings correctly....a GREAT CAMERA. *people talkin smack about the rebel series slr??* yeah, the rebel has kicked the shit out of the nikon d70 in nearly every head to head test that ive read. plus the rebel uses the same cmos snsor found in the top end 20d!!!!!. its a ass kicking little camera...i cant wait to get one! i would definatly go with the canon! |

Go to www.dpreview.com and source out a camera that suits your needs. That's the best bet. Also take a look at the following link of dying CCD sensors. there's A LOT of canons on there, not too many nikons though...something to consider when choosing your next model. http://www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/1128958202.html Last edited by shorerider; Oct 13, 05 at 01:16 AM. |

That's hilarious...
I just checked out that link about the dead ccd chips and found out that Sony disclosed a glitch in several of their models, including my old one. Wonder if I'll still be able to get a repair? *smirk* and on another note, rawb... 1/2 hour of straight cam'ron music vids on Rapcity it's like a dipset marathon Last edited by m0e; Oct 13, 05 at 01:19 AM. |

i second the vote on the canon elph.
i never had a problem with mine, and it was about 3 years old as well. better then many new ones i have seen recently actually. unfortunalty it was stolen a few weeks back..... so that proves how good it is as well. |
