Trouble sending pics through Gmail?

Anyone else have this problem? I'm trying to send some photos through gmail to about 13 people and I keep getting a "server timed out error, try again in 30 seconds". Except I keep getting the bloody message.
I can send pics one by one to individual people but because of my shitty dial up it takes a while and is way too time consuming.

I've contacted gmail but have yet to recieve a response.
Any ideas why this is happening?

its either too large a file or the wrong format? Although this may already be obvious to you! Wash the photos through photoshop, save for web, low res on the jpeg option, and you will probably do awight!

ps: what site are you using to host the photos?
