general strike tomorrow?
i heard a rumour that buses and skytrains weren't going too be working tomorrow in support of the teachers.

true or false?

The buses here weren't running during the morning today for that reason, but apparantly they are now though. *shrug*

Its not about pissing anyone off, it's about getting the government's attn and showing them that they can't push around unions like they think they can.

A couple days (at most) of inconvenience for the general public as opposed to YEARS of unreasonable working conditions for education staff and an unwillingness to negotiate better terms.

Isn't me being late for work for a reason I am not involved in, not getting paid for a full day of work because I was late, having it count against me, or having to pay out of my own pocket to take a taxi to work unreasonable and unfair? Absolutely.

I lost a job three years ago because of a transit strike. Employees were all laid off with no severance because of reduced business because busses weren't running in the area. I really don't like it when the busses don't run!

Completely understandable. Since its not the transit that is having the primary beef with Mr. Campbell, I don't see their contributions to the strike lasting long. I think it's more for affect. I hope things work out for you tho!
