U.S. civil rights icon Rosa Parks dies at 92
Rosa Parks, one of the major figures of the mid-20th Century struggle for African-American civil rights, has died.
She was 92 years old. Parks gained notoriety when on Dec. 1, 1955, she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man and move to the back of the bus in segregated Montgomery, Ala.. By doing so, she violated a city ordinance and was fined. That act of defiance led to the creation of the Montgomery Improvement Association, led by a young Baptist pastor named Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The association launched a boycott of the Montgomery bus system, one that lasted 382 days. The U.S. Supreme Court would eventually strike down the Montgomery ordinance, leading to the end of racial segregation on U.S. public transit systems. http://sympaticomsn.ctv.ca/servlet/A...ks_obit_051024 |

the struggle of teachers does in fact symbolize a greater struggle between the governing powers and the common people, so i can agree that is holds great importance, but id have to say that for her to compare her struggles to that of rosa parks, was a reach!

as far as im concerned jinny simms is in the same category as gordon camble. BRUTAL FUCKING BRUTAL!! Did anyone see her on the news @ 11. Her speach at the two union rallys were pure dribble, and although i thought it was a definate "ballsy" move to make public, the conditions that vince reddy has layed out, she is what comes to mind, when i think about slick talking union leaders, who think that "dancing with provincial government" is rallying for any sort of struggle for rights by union members. Beureacrat x2! FUCK!!
